Kawagoe is a city 30 minutes north of Tokyo. It is nicknamed
Koedo, which means "Little Edo." Because Tokyo was destroyed in World War II, no buildings from the Edo Period remain. Kawagoe, however, retains several buildings from the Edo Period, and keeps the feeling of the time. One of the most significant structures in Kawagoe is the Bell of Time, which still rings four times a day.
