Osaka Castle
Osaka Castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583. It was modeled after Oda Nobunaga's Azuchi Castle, but Toyotomi sought to surpass it. The Toyotomi clan managed to maintain a hold of the castle for 15 years after Tokugawa's victory in the Battle of Sekigahara. Though much of it was burned in the Meiji Restoration and damaged by bombing raids in World War II, it has been reconstructed and is open to the public. The interior has been converted into a museum and does not resemble the interior of a Japanese castle.
